I've been in the lucky position to have most of my race entries sponsored. But if I had to pay for it myself there would be no way that I would have competed in the number of events i do now. It definitely seems that cycling is heading the route where you need an extremely healthy pay cheque to be able to compete. As if the equipment is not expensive enough already...

Why do I have a feeling there might just be more of the boys sent home!

Just to add. I left the old rim tape on, so my rims are fitted with double rim tape.

This used to happen to me about two years ago. I added another rim tape and have not had the same problem since. The tyres fit very tight now though.

This was my first year of 30+ racing and I loved it, because we could actually race and compete! Not just hang on to the paid Pro's untill you pop off. The Vets categories were a working system. Why did they need to bugger it up ?

Morning guys. So a couple of weeks ago Road Cycling SA tweeted that Hendrik said that their will be only three racing bunches in the major races next year. So the 30+ will race with the elites in the 1st bunch. Where can we get more info on this? Even though the 30s start with the elites then, will there stil be a category prize for 30+ or only overall wins? What about SA's? Do we race in categories or elite? I know that putting the categories together will build to more aggressive racing, which is good. What I dont like is that I yet again can't be competitive anymore and could only sit wheel untill I pop off. Some more info would be great!

I'm the friendly roadie. I greet or wave to almost everyone I see on my training route. Even to the cars that gives me a gap at the intersections.
