Microsoft Excel boffins

We are planning on a 3 day race, and we want to do the timing on excel. Or any program that allows us to calculate the total time of the 3 days and possibly time them, with out the use of an stopwatch. any programs that can do that?

Would be great if you van just enter the number and excel stores the time by itself

Excel has a formula =NOW() which gives you current system time. Create a formula that subtracts Race start time from current time.

Is there a way to tell excel when entering something is this cell, that a new fotmula must be run, but not in the same cell

Best would be to create a Visual Basic Script/App that has a button that you can click that will capture the time.

What you can do is have a cell next to each number that when you click it will capture that time.

 

Or you can have a dialogue box where you enter in the number of the person and when you press enter it will capture the current time for that person.

 

 

Best will be to capture this data in a database than a spreadsheet. More reliable if someone accidently captures the wrong info

Now on to the next, How can Excel tell me the first 3 in each category?

Use the SORT function...& sort from hi to low...
