rysmier Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 My friend wants to start MTB,but is unsure of which bike to buy. He's looking at the top three bikes.I'm buying a Scott scale 60 at the moment which is why I include it because its in the sime price range.
keith Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Compare the specs of the bikes and customer service offered by the LBS. People here all have personal opinions that might/might not help. I owned the RM5 and had no problems.
knersis Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Would try to get a bike with at least Deore or X.7, Alivia and Acera doesn't seem to last. Then look at theĀ fork and wheelset.
rad006 Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 In that range get the bike with the best overall components....Your brakes+ Front Shock are the most important.... everything else is replaceable.... dont worry about cheaper cranks or get confused if the one bike has 1 XT component and the rest poor stuff... Get the best but make your shock count
