Mongoose Canaan

Hi,

 

Anybody knows what year model the Mongoose Canaan frame came with the cusset welded between the top tube and seat post?

 

Was these factory fitted cussets or were they recalled and sold as new frames the next year?

 

Also have anybody ever seen a brand new bike been sold with two diffrent colors on the frame - front one color and back triangle diffrent color? Seems a bit strange to me, escpecialy if the two colors are very close, matt vs clossy.

 

any help will be appriciated.

To answer your first question 2008. I have one and love it.

AS FAR AS I KNOW THOSE WERE RECALLED AND SCRAPPED. AND IF YOU GOT SOLD ONE WITH OUT THE BRACE YOU WERE GIVEN A FRAME EXTRA. THEY WERE NOT FIXED LOCALLY AS FAR AS I KNOW

The <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Canaan (Red) that I test rode at the ?Try before you buy? did not have a gusset or reinforcing plate.

 

The 2010 Canaan on Mongoose?s website also does no have the gusset.  For that matter I have not seen an International Canaan with a gusset.  So maybe the gusset is only for ZA ?Super? light weight riders.

My 2008 Canaan came without a gusset, I broke 2 and the third time it was replaced with a Gusset frame. That was in October 2008. That was a 2009 frame. The 2010 frame seems to have a down tube of thicker material and also a double weld.

Thx, for the info, not exactly what I was after but it helped.

 

Recieved a new frame from LBS and had to pay in - pretty disapointed but wanted to make the problem disappear.

 

New frame either 09 or maybe 10 not sure, doesnt have the gusset and seem to be much better welding, also have a little hole on tube which indicate the maximum height saddle can exceed.
