Snapped pedals

Today I got home early from school after exams and decided id give my bike a good and thorough checkup/clean/lube before a weekend of riding.

 

I took off the wheels, scrubbed my drive-train, checked brake pads ect. checked crank and BB (my BB is broken) and then pedals and I found that my right pedal had a slight wobble in it, so i rode the bike around sure enough it was making that dreaded click each rotation of the pedal so im assuming that its the pedals bb or somthing like that. (even clicks when i just apply pressure to the pedal when im off the bike)

 

The pedal is a 4 month old DMR V8 cost me R450!!

 

My question is, how often do pedals break like this and what should i do about it? i havnt checked DMRs warrenty but will do that shortly.

 

if anyone could help me out or give some advice that would be much appretiated

Where did it break? on the tapered pin or on the thread.

 

I'm guessing that it broke on the tapering pin (True/False)and thats what I didn't like about them when I looked at them, because it looked so thin.

Bought a set of pedals off a hubber and they started the dreaded click. I took them apart comletly and serviced them myself by just cleaning them up and carefully reassembling them.

 

Took me about 2hours but they work so schweet now I love them - ironically the hubber sold them as he was not happy with him after he used them to go around the block, I guess I resolved the cause.

Jrussel get some Odyssey flats (BMX Pedals) they squeak a little after time but can be abused and will hold strong also have really good grip! Take the old V8's back to Olympic I'am sure we could send them back or something.
