Slowbee Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 in normal languuage what is meant by float ?
Mr LOOK Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 It means that there's some degree of movement in your pedal/foot when clipped in.
Mudsimus Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 in normal languuage what is meant by float ? We'll you get differant types of float. There is cream soda float, Fanta float and the other day I even saw a juicy thingy float. But my favourite is still a coke float.
Slowbee Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 i love a cream soda float - but not on my cleats. Mr Look, if you have float does this mean the clip of the pedal allows for movement of the cleat (and hence the shoe) ?
Candz Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Would be pretty keen to see a price comparison here cos im looking for new pedals...and then hear the opinions...on which is best based on value for money.

Mr Look' date=' if you have float does this mean the clip of the pedal allows for movement of the cleat (and hence the shoe) ? [/quote'] Slowbee, I'm not 100% sure what you're asking ....but with the Quartz cleats you've got 3deg angular freedom/float(so when you're clipped in you've got 3deg's) of movement, and 1.5mm sideways freedom. You've then also got 2 cleat options, a 15deg release angle and a 20deg release angle.
Guest Agteros Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Shimano, coz I can take my dirty mtb shoes and go scare the spinners at the gym

Genesis Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 What pedals do you use ?I currently have some Shimano model on my XC bike. Works really well' date=' but a combination with this and road cycling aggravated my ITB pain so I switched on road to Speedplays - more float is great.Thoughts ?[/quote'] If you are getting more "float" with Speedplay then I think you mist the point of speedplay - haha. There should be very little play once setup correctly. OR perhaps I misreading and you are saying you prefer more float. Or maybe Im just confused. OUTA HERE!!!!
