Ok I?m totally confused now by all this over size, standard size stem thing. I need a 90mm stem in length. I want to get the correct size stem. This is what I have at this moment but got no idea what all this numbers mean (except for the 110mm on stem).

Can someone please tell me in words what do this numbers mean and what do I need?

All I know as said above is the Length, diameter wise and all no idea. What is the difference between oversized and normal size?

<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks

Let me give this a bash by starting with what you already know:

110mm is the length of your stem.

Stems are measured from the centre of the steerer tube clamp to the centre of the handlebar clamp.

Handlebar clamp size is where standard and oversize comes into play.

Most stems nowadays are 31.8mm (like the one you have) and are referred to as oversize.

Standard size stems have a smaller diameter ... 25.4mm I think.

The other measurements to consider are the headset/steerer clamp where the current industry standard is 1 1/8", and rize which refers to the angle of the stem (? 5 - 10 deg).

Hope that helps.!

The OS150 ten to one means it is an oversize (31.8mm) stem and weighs 150gr. The easiest way to distinguish between oversize bars and normal bars is that oversize normally have a bulge where the stem clamps. Normal bars are the same diameter throughout the whole bar.

The 110mm means it is a 110mm length. The +/- 6 means you have to torque the bolts up to that nm.

The 1-1/8" is the diameter of the steerer tube. That is standard these days. New bike have 1.1/8" top and 1.5" at the bottom.

So in othjer words I can just go out and look for a 90mm stem or does it have to be OS?

What is the difference between Over size and normal size, will this affect the bike setup in any way?

no. oversize is supposably a bit more rigid.

If you want to keep your FSA wing pro bars then you have to get an OS stem. Thats the norm anyway, trying to find a standard size stem is such a mission.

They say that the OS handelbars are stiffer, thats why they've gone to that diameter.

I see what you guys are saying, but still a bit confused. You say OS bars need OS stem..right.. OS bars are bulkier where the stem clamps on..right.. IF I want to keep my wing pro bars in nees a OS stem..why..as in the pics you can see my bars are the same size where the stem clamps onto.
