I leave the canister unpunctured in the pump. Actually most of the time the whole thing is taken apart an in pieces in the saddle bag

I honestly do not the the pump will close tight enough but I've never tested it...

Anybody else?

No - it will empty itself fairly quickly unless the seal is really tight (very unlikely).  Just puncture it when needed - what's an extra 2 seconds?

is there an answer to this?

MAYBE>>>

you'll have to insert a cartridge in to pump and weigh it when newly inserted.

Repeat weigh-in on regular basis, most accurate results would be charted daiy.

The Co2 is compressed so it weighs more when full.

You need a fine laboratory scale though.

I can tell you now already...it leakes slowly from the pump...

Why??

Because!!

Try connecting the cannister and then dunk it in water...and see for yourself??

It will last long enough to be re-used on the (same) ride if necessary ... just as a top-up, but you may as well ditch it when you get home.  Even with the best of seals, it will at best mimic a gentle fart the next time you need it (depending of course on how soon that is) ... and you'll be one canister short!

Keep it unpunctured, they leak relatively fast depending on the make due to the pressure..or keep it separate and put it in the pump when needed
