Is this the Smallblock 8 you talking about Brighter-lights?

It looks the same, but the weight they list there looks like the weight of the 2.1 UST version (HEAVY!)

Mine says Dual Thread Compound (DTC) 1.95 foldable and John Tomac signature series... mine is 465g

The Kenda Website says this:

DTCF/R26x1.95Folding12030-80451?24g

Excellent hard pack XC race tire

8 Nevegal shaped but smaller knobs across the tire for better 'bite'

DTC - Dual Tread Compound offers cornering grip with faster center line acceleration

One of the fastest rolling tires in the Kenda Premium line

Why would any one want to ride a 1.95 tyre? A MTN King in 2.2 supersonic is just on 350g and a 2.4 is under 500g. Riding a 1.95 one may as well ride on the rim...

Because its a Supersonic, which means that pretty soon you will be riding on the rim.

1.9 - 350g Twister Supersonics couldn't last me so I'm not too excited to find out how a 2.2 of the same weight will last... SO much thinner!

Look at the photo below...

Would you choose the Kenda 1.95 on the back wheel, or the Continental 2.1 in front... ?

I think the differences are obvious...

The Kenda's 1.95 has got loads more volume and height than the 2.1 Conti Speed King...  20091027_140016_P8140107.jpg

You ride 1.9's because:

They are faster and lighter with thicker sidewalls in comparison to a 2.1 which is slightly heavier... The drawback is a harder ride, but for me, the right 1.9 have just as much grip...

I ride a MTN King Supersonic 2.4 in front and a MTN King Supersonic 2.2 out back - Have been since Sani2c this year, both have been converted to tubeless with no problems. Even did Rooiberg on them.... they are not as flimsy as people think...

I currently alternate between 2.1 SB8s, and 2.0 Hutchinson Piranha Airlights.

The Piranhas roll much faster, and they're lighter. They are a little bit harsher though (smaller volume) and not as grippy. If however you're looking for a very fast tyre to go with a lot of skill, the Piranhas are the best tyres I've used since I started with Panaracer Smokes back in the day... That, and they last AGES, even with a lot of tar riding thrown in!

Thanks guys!

Lots of advice!

I think I'm going to go with BL on the SB8's

The weight posted on CRC is clearly wrong as every reveiw posted on CRC say they're lighter (2.4"-720g; 2.1"-550g; 1,95"-450g
