Does anyone have any experience with building a fixie using the old freewheel hub aka "suicide hub"?

How succesfull was it?

Also can get some cheap BMX hubs so thinking of doing the "suicide hub" method with these.

Any thoughts?

Or does somebody have an old rear track wheel floating around?

Take a look at the website of the late great sheldon brown. Surly markets a freehub to fixed gear converter kit, which you can order online - that may be your best option if you don't want to buy a new hub. but 130mm hubs with track threads are easily availably online, why not just build a new wheel?

I've seen that, it's called the fixer or something. Quite expensive tho.

Just asking mainly out of curiousity but also because BMX hubs are so much cheaper than track hubs.

I've seen a few built with old freewheel hubs with the respace and redished.
