I have hydraulic Avid Code's..

My front caliper has been off the disc for a few days now and when I tried to put it back on...

I COULDN'T!

BAM!

The brake pad has moved inwards (in the closing position, like the braking position) ... Does this mean I have to 'bleed' ? What happened?

Help? Confused

darn, when that happened with my juicy 7's in the shop the blokes just used a screw driver and pried open the pads. I reckon you could do the same.

Someone most probably pulled on the lever wile the disc was off.

Get a flat crewdriver that is clean with no oil on it and push the pads back. that should sort the problem.

Avids hydraulic brakes like most hydraulics have no spring return, and are designed to automatically adjust for brake pad wear. So if you take them off and the lever is pulled, the pistons will be pushed out and wont return fully. Just take a large, flat screwdriver, put it in between the pads and turn gently. You should see them go back. Be gentle or you can damage the brake pads.

be careful in prying open the bare pistons, they can easily be damaged. Rather stick to a large flat "wedge shaped" one, called a mechanics screwdriver. And keep the pads in when you do it, rather damage the pads than the pistons. Also its much easier that way. I've struggled so much with my Juicy 5's, but once you get them setup right they stay that way.
