How many of you have actually paid for your subscription? I did once and now whenever I get to the end' date=' I manage to "win" an extension. The last time it happened I actually told them not to bother.

To me it seems that they "give" out subscriptions to get their reader numbers up and then quote these figures to prospective advertisers.[/quote']

With Discovery you even get it for R89. And curently they are actualy sending 2 copys, I get then up to a week appart.

Same here...

I agree. But sometimes it seems like a waste to spend money on something which I will only skim through and read a few articles.

know what you're saying, but i don't buy them just for me. my kids love paging through them too. and i never read them as i buy them. i'll take a mag home, leave it on the pile in the bike room, then read it in fits and starts smiley36.gif

Don't understand what all the fuss is about. I find Bicycling mag to be the best local cycling read. The mag may be skinny, but it has more worthwhile articles than ride. Ride tends to have too many of those boring race reports. Being mainly interested in XC and marathon related articles, I find Tread mag pretty disappointing - seems to be aimed more at th DH crowd, too expensive.

Despite my gripes, I still buy every issue of all three mags.

Hi' date='

There is no need to buy magazines. All the info you need is on the NET

Despite the overwhelming amount of information on the net, you cant read it on the bog LOL unless you have a laptop that is.

Theres nothing quite like the feeling of printed letters on real paper. I also want to support to the local publishers, but only if the magazine is substantial enough to justify repeated purchases. Still waiting for the 3rd issue of Tread, was very impressed with the second issue.

I know but when I see a new issue of any of the three on the shelf at the shop I am like an alchoholic in a bottle store - I can't help myself, even though I know all the info is avail on the net.

More importantly, in an emergency, you can't wipe your @rse with your laptop. You could use some of the ads though smiley4.gif

But make sure its an ad for a nice slick and not a MTB knobbly - they hurt.Cry
