Had an awesome ride.

We did the yellow and the white route.

I prefer the Yellow route as it has more climbs and the climbs are longer.

Will go there again.

Well marked routes.

I sent PM's to all last night to inform them of the change of venue.

Nothingness why did you not introduce yourself?

I obviously am not on your mailing list.LOLWink

And neither am I! Angry

Sorry Wannebee, if we were not late, I would have asked around at the gate too. Could have shown you around. Sorry!

Although we did a bit of hike a bike, exploring a new project...

Yes, Welvanpas is great.

Don't think it was marked "yellow" and "white" when we were there last, but there were two loops from the manor house, one to the north and one to the south (going up towards Bainskloof).

Any more trails there by now (they were planning to expand).

Is OK, now I know my way around a bit better, although I'm sure I missed most, if not all, of those little "secret" trails that you longtimers know.

Maybe next time.

Hope you at least found the Canary trails (lower, middle, upper and "oupa"). With "never-ending-story" still closed,  this is the best single track in Jonkershoek at present.

Yes, us locals are spoilt.

I have been hiking and climbing in Jonkershoek since 1987.

Did my first MTB ride there in 1999 before any single track was built.

Had the place to ourselves then. Almost ever met another MTBer.

BTW most of the roads and tracks in Jonkershoek are mapped on T4A maps and are also shown on Google Earth (switch on the Tracks4Africa layer under 'More').

Been recording and submitting GPS tracks in Jonkershoek to them for a few years. "Oupa" canary is still not on; will send that to them again.

Discovered "Lower Canary" by mistake, at first cycling upstream and then onto "Middle Canary", again upstream. Continued with middle until above tree line where very rocky section starts. Turned around and went all the way down again. Did not enjoy middle that much going down, but lower was heaps of fun.

Yeah, you guys really are spoiled. With me moving to Belville permanently within the next week or two, won't be able to ride Jonkershoek as much.

Believe there is a Mtb track just below where I'm going to stay. Not sure about name, but think it's called Majik Forest or something like that. Is this possible correct, and if so, how good is the riding there?

That sandy rocky section on middle Canary is not nice. Never was like that, but then MTO harvested the trees and destroyed the track. Fortuenately it is a short section and can be bypassed fairly easy by cutting up to the road just after you exit the trees.

Lower, middle and upper Canary can all be ridden in both directions.

"Oupa" Canary (newest addition & still to be officially named) is more suited to riding down hill.

We often went up the Canaries and descended Never-ending-story (Ellioti) but that is still closed; Hope Dirtopia repairs it soon...

Did get up to Elliot. Some guys standing admiring the view (yeah rightWink) told me it was closed, otherwise I would have tried riding it. Why is there no warning at the entrance of these closed trails. There is one on the opposite slopes that is also closed. Luckily I saw the trees across it before entering.
