Video: smash and grab on Kliprivier Drive

 

Criminals were seen on camera on July 4 and 19, among other days, stealing a handbag and attempting to rob another vehicle escaping within seconds.

The traffic lights on Kliprivier Drive off-ramps to the N12 have been notorious for smash and grab instances as four suspects work as a team in getting the 'job' done.

 

SOS Pro TecSure as well as residents in the surrounding area were concerned about these happenings and made sure that it came to an end.

 

SOS Pro TecSure installed cameras at the intersection making it possible to view any criminal activity from all directions. The company installed the cameras for free, costing them an estimated fee of R1 000 000.

 

Martin Barber (SOS Pro TecSure) told the CHRONICLE, "These crimes used to happen almost every day, since we installed the cameras, it only happened about twice every two month and is still decreasing."

 

He also said that if the community worked together with SAPS, CPF, CPS and numerous security companies, it would make a huge difference with the amount of crime in our communities.

As seen on the video footage three suspects climbed up the grass embankment from the N12 over the crash barrier, committed the crime and once they had what they came for, they retreated and escaped easily to a vehicle and another suspect waiting for them below the bridge.

SOS Pro TecSure has now placed vehicles in the area, day and night, making it more difficult for any criminal to attempt a smash and grab.

The security company as well as Mondeor SAPS request the community to be on the lookout for a white Toyota Corolla with four suspects.
