Nguni Posted February 3, 2010 Share Which one is the best/most durable groupset? Shimano XT or Sram x9 with Avid Elixir R brakeset Your input would be valuable.
felt cg Posted February 3, 2010 Share A mix of both. Shimano crankset and front derailer ; Sram rear derailer, grip shifts and Avid brakes.
andretraut Posted February 3, 2010 Share Xt is an excellent complete groupset at a reasonable price. I would stick to Shimano, and depending on your application, even consider a cheaper alternative for brakes such as SLX.
bak2basiks Posted February 3, 2010 Share XT crank and XT FD is very popular....(XT crank and X9 FD my set-up)...then I've got XO RD and triggers and Elixir CR brakes....deadly..... XT FD and X9 shifters and RD will be bulletproof....XT / Elixir brakes....? Comes down to personal preference....XT however seems a bit specific for left/right, whereas with the Elixirs you can put the the rear brake on the right and front on the left (like me) or vice-versa. With XT, I think you can't swop them around.....
