Kanyon Posted February 15, 2010 Share Can anyone suggest a 2-week tapering programme for this year's Argus? Am a total newbie, background of long slow distance mostly. Think I've been overdoing the training bit (even at my snail's pace), as I haven't seen much performance gain from my training, which is why I'm guessing I'd be better off doing a good taper into the event than training myself silly right up to the start... Red Zone Posted February 15, 2010 Share I can't recomend a specific taper, but if you reduce your training time by 25 % per week, lower your intensity and cut out intervals and hill sessions in the last week you should be fine.
Rain101 Posted February 15, 2010 Share Way to go Newbie you wont see much difference in as you need to do shorter faster rides to get the speed up. Also try shorter hills with hill repeats. Also guarenteed to get you stronger. Training: not quantity but quality. Good luck!
Kanyon Posted February 19, 2010 Share Thanks, been trying some intervals once or twice a week, as well as hill repeats where I can.
