Ok, usually with sludge to a presta application you open the valve, place the nozzle of the applicator sludge bottle over the valve and squeeze in the sealent. then once finished you apply a liberal amount of vaseline to the presta valve (still open, and inflate it with a Co2 bomb (or compressor if you have one)). the blast of co2 cleans out the valve of sludge and so does the vaseline. the valve should close up as  normal. Go ride.

If using the green slime, usually the application is to a schrader valve, where you use the special lid of the applicator bottle to unscrew the valve in the schrader houseing, pour in the green slime, and then refit the valve. pump up and go ride.

Green slime is much easier and better than using sludge. If presta, the the same vaseling application should work.

my experience with sludge is that after a while it hardens into a rubber layer in your tube, and fails to do its job when a thorn strikes.

stick to green slime, much easier to apply, and works really well.

once you are bored with this systen get some ust tyres, ust rims or a stans/no flats conversion kit and go tubeless. gives you more wonderful hours of tinkering and refining your 'set up.'

dont go drilling your rims, thats just dumb, as the aluminium with get a slight twist from the drill bit giving more hassles. all warrenty claims will aslo be null and void.

Go with Gansbays advice, it's by far the cleanest & easiest. You'll soon learn with the syringe that as soon as you apply too much pressure the slime does it's job and blocks the syringe.

Hubber in worthless free advice shocker.

Ok then' date=' you gracious MTBer, you, try this...

Buy regular non-slugde choobs and use a syringe to pierce the choobs and put the sludge inside them. Yes, you'll have holes in your choobs, but the sludge will (should) seal up the holes.[/quote']

This is the advice I was given, by Mampara i think, when I asked the same question over a year ago. I did it but I patched the hole left by the needle - Worked a treat. Actually thinking about it - still working a treat.

I bought 2 Conti tubes.

Made the guys at the LBS loosen the valves. Got some WTF looks, but needed to be sure.

Will add the Stan's to these tonight and run them.

But since I also have another set, I'll try the syringe on them.

Thanks everyone

This is what i do as well and it a lot less hassle than using a syringe!!  Iso vaseline i used some KY jelly LOL as its a bitch to get the bottle of the presta valve once done.

You can actually buy presta valve  tubes with slime already in at shops which works out a lot cheaper. ..  Normal tube is R40 + slime R50 = R90 while sllimed tube costs R60 as sportsman warehouse
