Groenies is looking superb

Had a ride at Groenkloof this morning and it was looking in superb condition the singletrack has smoothed out fantastically after the rain and it seems like some of the rocks going down along the fence have also rolled mysteriously away. All I can say is fast and superb, had an awesome ride.

You can pick up route maps at the gates... or at least there were some at the gate this weekend... And a bunch of Dutch soccer supporters...

 

 

 

Yea, the trails are looking good. The part leading up to the Grassland switchbacks is a bit bumpy... but not to bad...

 

 

 

However... as good as the trails are... I had my first ENDO this weekend going down what arguably is the steepest downhill at Groenies...

 

Only a couple of scrapes and a bruised palm...

i have never ridden here but always hear good things.

 

Is it well enough marked to ride here without somebody who know the route?   I see you can get maps at the gate, are these sufficient?

I went alone the first time. The route is marked okeish, but doubt you'll get lost. Groenkloof isn't big enough to get lost.

 

Worst thing that can happen is that you'll end up riding an extra 30min if you don't know where you're going and I don't see an extra 30min on my bike as a bad thing.

The routes are pretty well marked and you'll have tons of fun if you keep following the cycle markers.

 

 

 

But if you want to see everything Groenies has to offer in one session, you'll most likely need someone that know the routes.

thanks Stewiw - I'm not worried about getting lost - I'm just looking at how to connect certain routes together so I can determine a ride time and distance before I set out or if I change my mind en-route.
