So I was one of the few who bought the first model - Edge305.

I had no issues for two years now, it worked perfectly well until about a month ago...

The unit seems to switch itself off when bumped i.e jumpin something or riding over rough terrain.

Fine for road riding but USELESS for MTBing...

Does anyone know who I can contact, who are the local distributors etc??

Thanks

Avnic are the local agents, when you take it to them they will act all surprised and claim not to be aware of the problem even though its been discussed on various chat forums including their own, then tell you that a "firmware upgrade" will sort it out which it will not, as a last resort they will swop it out for a cash payment for another 305, but imo rather go for and upgrade to 500 or 705.

Yeah, its a common issue, Avnic told me it was a battery issue and changed the battery (at a cost)- didnt help at all.!

Eventually I got so frustrated I decided to sort it out myself, after some searching on the net I found a post where folk had repaired the issue, so with nothing to lose I followed the instructions which entailed soldering on some wires and raising the contacters - glued it all back together and it worked fine for about 6 months, then the glue I used gave up and the case started opening up again.

Phoned Henkel who suggested I use Locktite 401 which was a real hassle to find, but eventually got a tube, glued it up again and its been at least 10 months now, its still working fine and the glue is holding great.

My suggestion, if its out of warranty, do the modification yourself, the only difficult bit is soldering the wires, if you can solder, no problem, but if (like me) you can't, you may need to get someone to do it for you - its a 10 buck fix for wire and about 120 bucks for the specialist glue (go figure!) but the 305 unit dos everything I need, and, as I am super cheap, if I dont need to buy a new one - I aint gonna.!
