Hi everyone,

My friend wants to start cycling and he is looking at starting of relatively cheaply. He is around 1.86..8cm tall, but he calculated (using his inner leg lenth) that he should get a 56cm, but I think he will be more suited to a 58cm/large. We've looked around a bit (see below for three examples), but would appreciate any help!

- Giant OCR3 (large), full Sora grupo, Alex R500 rims. R2,000. [Hub]

- Orbea 58CM Altec 2, Campac Veloce 9 Cluster Groupset, Look peddles, Campac Moshua 80 deep section rims, Cateye Tomo XC. R5,900.00 (Negotiable) [Gumtree]

- Daccordi steel roadie, 58cm, Shimano 600 Ultegra groupset with downtube shifters, excellent condition. R3,500. [Hub]

I rode an old le Jeune classic (age: 16 years+) for a year and a half before upgrading to my current Giant TCR replica. I told him he should also start cheaper and then move up after a year or two. He hasn't been active for quite a while.

Thank you! Andydude

Hi all. It is I, the aforementioned couch potato, vying for a come back to fitness. Just looking for a road bike in the 3k price range which can get me going for the first year or so and will not fall apart over the first bump.

Frame size after some real world measurements would more accurately seem to be a 58. Any helpful thoughts, links or guidance in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
