  1. Taking from Vegmot's and others comments, this is as I now understand it : I can upgrade the wheels and keep the current setup as is by implementing spacer(s), but have to stick to the 8 speed, until new groupset or n+1
  2. If it is long cage or short cage.
  3. As far as I understood that old derailleur does not "support" 11 speed?
  4. Wow, thanks for all the quick replies. Obviously not as simple as I thought then Will need to give this some thought regarding the options mentioned. Thanks again! EDIT : Quick Question, a Shimano 105 SS derailleur will work on a 11-28, 11 speed right?
  5. Hi, tech nooblet here. I want to upgrade the wheels on my trusty ol steed to a pair of Fulcrum 3 Racing (2WayFit) wheels. Current setup (pics included) : Cassette : 11-28, 8 speed (relatively new) Derailleur : Shimano RSX (old!) Chain : ?? Freehub : ?? Crankset : Shimano 105 53/39 (new) Rims : Alex Rims (old!) So as I understand these new wheels are compatible with 11 (9/10?) cassette sizes. I would like to keep the 11-28 min/max range on the new setup. Questions: 1) Do I need a new Cassette? Or can one just "add" additional cogs? 2) I have no idea about freehubs, will the new wheels come with this or is this an additional purchase? 3) If I go for a new Shimano 105 derailleur, do I need the SS or GS? 4) Will I need a new chain? 5) Say for instance I will need a new cassette (11-28;11 speed) , would it be possible to run the old wheels with the 8 speed cassette on the new derailleur/chain setup? 6) Anything else I need to take into consideration? Thanks!
  6. Ok thanks, will just stick with those.
  7. I am contemplating changing out my 29" Maxxis Crossmark for Geax Mezcals tyres for this event, but I am not sure if it would provide much benefit in terms of speed/rolling resistance/weight. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  8. Friendly people, amazing scenery and such a perfect day. The one rocky downhill section had me warming up my brake rotors to a new pb All in all I have to say I loved the route and will definitely be back next year!
  9. Thanks Rouxenator. Sounds manageable, will it give it a go and let you know how it went
  10. How technical("hectic") is the 60km? I usually do the medium/intermediary mtb routes, but thought this time I'd do the longer one for once. Just worried this might not be the right race to do so? EDIT: Fitness wise I should be fine.
  11. Confirmed that it is an air shock. My guess is these shocks(TK30) aren't labelled gold/silver like the TK29.
  12. Yeah, would be quite happy if it was the gold , the thing is I can't figure out what exactly is on that bike.
  13. Thanks, I have mailed the agent to find out
