Hi All

I have an SUV which has a spare on the back door. My Thule Ride-on works as a general carrier, but I am doing the Desert Dash and will need to have something smaller and more flaxible to allow me to get to my food through the back door. Thus I need to use a towbar extension to use a simple hang-on type carrier that can fold into my boot. These are all vertical and will catch on the spare if I do not extend the towbar.

Anyone used these and are they robust enough? I will be doing a long trip with the bike and do not want to have issues along the way.

I have one as I also have a spare on the back. They are plenty strong enough for a bike carrier but not for towing a trailer I wouldn't think. Had no issues.

I've used the Holdfast extension [the longet one they make] with a Thule 4 Bike rack for 3 years and clocked lots of mileage with 3+ bikes on the rack. Lots of flat tar and bumpy gravel, and they are safe and reliable and don't rust. But don't pull a tailer etc with the extension. Good cheap solution !!
