Hi

My Anthem X2 came with a Shimano Deore rear hub and Mavic 117 rims. The rear hub needs replacing.

Can I swop it out for a Stan's ZTR Disc rear hub?

I can get one at a really good price and would like to only replace my current hub with something with sealed bearings.

Any input is appreciated.

No

The reasons is that you'll end up with a complete new wheel. Hub flanges differ wildly in size and a different hub requires different spoke lenghts.

Further, even if you do replace the hub with a similar ones, putting used spokes into a new position in another hub is not a good idea. They won't last long in that application.

Even further, since that rim is an entry level rim more than likely has some fatigue in it already, why bother? Just get a new wheel. It will be cheaper.

Why do you say the hub needs replacing?

Thanks Johan.

I see what you are saying, the current hub has bearing issues and the freewheel body is worn.

I will rather save some more and build up a new rear wheel (hub, spokes et al) I was concerned about spoke length to begin with.

Thanks for the advice.
