I'm looking at building a SS from scratch. I'm looking at a big wheel, but also want to use it off road, Jeep track vibe, no single track!

I've looked at a few road frames but the tyre profiles are almost all too narrow.

What kind of frame will hold a wider-then-a-road-bike tyre but is still "big" (700c/29") ?

ANY wisdom out there?

Buzzer sounds - "Yes Cyclocross?" "Sir, I feel compelled to offer a speedy reply for some reason".

Cyclocross frames will do the trick allowing heavily treaded wider tyres(than road)with even some extra clearance for mud. Were a few recently in frame only or fully built versions on the hub which a search should reveal if still around.
