1. Does anyone know who imports ChrisKing - I've found this - Hopefully it works..... http://chrisking.com/headsets/hds_devo
2. Come on... Where are the all the semi professional bike mechanics?! Or engineers?
3. Ok - so after some more googling I see a steerer adapter could work, but these seem to be for more modern tapered steerers. Has anyone fitted this for my kind of application?
4. Help please. Rant on I recently bought a 1995 Gary Fisher Montare from a bike shop in Cape Town. The guy really did his best to sell me this bike and if I'd known what he was selling me I'd run. But anyway he offered a lot of extras which do kind of make up for him selling me a dud, and me buying a dud. Rant off I can use the bike for commuting and need to replace the fork - here is the tricky bit. The old Manitou had a 1 1/4 inch steerer. Most new fork (pre tapered steerers) are 1 1/4". Fixing this is proving costly. My current fix involves designing and manufacturing a bushing with an ID of 1 1/8' to fit a modern fork (Suntour makes one my LBs says retails for R890 - Vbrake mounts, remote lockout ALLES.) and a 1 1/4' OD to fit the frame head set. The problem with this is then finding bearings for the top and bottom - those diameter bearings are not easy to come by. Has anyone had a similar situation or has there been a cheap fix for this? Any constructive help is welcome......

Attakwas 2012

This is a SICK race. Did it this year and spent 9:55 on my saddle. I'll have to start training of a lot more though, last year I coasted on my Sabie fitness... No such luxury this year.

Cheap Bikes

Wow, a lot of quick responses. Not bad. I'm also looking for a 2nd hand bike as well. I do not want to spend more then R3500. As long as the parts can be replaced if need be and it won't brake if I look at it. 70% of the route has a decent "track" next to the road which I currently use, but the rigid frame bike I have is a bit small and I'd like something with a shock. I thought of converting it to an SS but I use it as a loner bike for social group rides and its a classic so do not want to turn it into an SS. I do think those game bikes will drive me mad. I'll check Gumtree but if anyone knows of anyone selling a HT around R3000-R3500 then let me know.

Cheap Bikes

Hi I'm looking for a cheapish, but decent quality bike for cycling to work and back with. This bike will be a workhorse. Does anyone use one of those Dunlop, or game specials? I'd like to know if anyone has some advice. Sweeet.

Cannondale 3.0

Howzit, thanks man. Ja I doubt its a ladies bike. I'm used to MTBing so the bone jarring stuff isn't that bad. I've been giving it on loan and its not as bad as I thought. I'll have to get at least a new set of bars for it though.
10. Howzit. Did Cannondale ever sell a lumo pink Cannondale 3.0 specifically as a mens bike? I can get one for quite cheap, and the geometry is not too bad, but the bars are narow and it makes me think its a ladies bike. That and the colour. Was there that much of a difference in frame sizes ito mens vs ladies in that era? I doubt it. People were just discovering how to form aluminium when those were produced. I'm quite happy to put wider bars and a different stem on and ride it as is. I'll maybe respray it. Any info welcome.
11. Giant does look hot. Hopefully they sort out the bland handling issues.
12. It is a mates of mine's bike - the second one he's had stolen in 4months. NOT cool. The first one was insured and has since been replaced but this ws his commuter bike (and the bike he did his 2009 Epic training on) so it holds a heck of a lot of memories. He has emailed all the cash crusaders in the area and they are supposed to keep the stuff for a week before selling and he is in contact with the police as well. Hopefully this post will alert smaller second hand bike shops. Marins in SA are rare - so if you see this one please try and see if you can find out anything on where it came from or where it is going. A reward is offered.
13. Posting this for a mate: HI there This bike of mine was stolen last week Thursday, from my flat in Greenpoint. It’s a Silver Marin, with a rock shock recon shock, it was fitted with head and tail lights and slick tyres. ( You don’t get Marin in SA, so it should and will stand out) .... I will reward any information that leads to the recovery of the stolen goods. Many Thanks

Houwhoek tour

It was a very cool weekend all in all. Saturday was personally not such a lekker ride - I kept my windbreaker on and I got too hot and lost. Hahahahaha. Sunday was a different story - much better ride and had a heck of a lot of fun. I apologise profusely to the two guys I passed 500m into day 2. I nearly took the one oke out. Sorry man, it was not cool.
