I have a Merida 96 3000d which comes out with the X fusion 02 rear shock.

I find the travel of the rear to be lacking when it comes to small bump complience, it only seems to work on big hits or square edge hits.

For example when going down steep rocky descents when the back wheel takes a hit lifts up and trys to go over the handle bars this bucking of the rear make decent difficult even with all my weight as far over the rear wheel as possible .

I have lowered the shock preasure and it make the bike feel a bit wallowy.

So fellow 96 riders what is the magic sage setting in terms of % of the shock travel or in terms of mm

While we talkiing about this bike the Magura on the front works really well but on big hits it make a loud shreeking sound- anyone with this problem?.

Thanks

The 96 is not wot you have in mind. Its ot a BIG HIT bike. its not even a 1ft hit bike

its firstly a race bike with the rear suspension just taking the edge of things giving effectively about 50mm

of travel if you are lucky.the frame runs 1:1 rear actuation

if you looking for comfort or getting big hits get the Merida 120 or 140

Looks like you bought the wrong bike

This is interesting... I'm looking at getting a 1200D. Is the handling when descending really that bad? I know the 96 is a more racy bike, but this sounds odd. How is the handling and "comfort level" during general riding and fast downhills?

It is a good bike, handleing is really good as said above it is not a plush bike very effcient and very fast but comfortable about 100times more than a hard tail.

What size bike are you looking for perhpas you can take my bike and I can get a longer travel ride? Specs on my bike are:

I took that puppy of yours up the steepest section of breedts and it climbed like a billy goat, I was very impressed with it but yes, it is very "racy"

So what you looking at next Luke, I know you love your Yetis ;)

Gonna take it slow and see, wheres the Morewood brother better pull round with machine so I can check it out, it may land up on my short list
