Okay, so a few weeks ago I was feeling real shite. Allways tired, long work hours, hard training, poor diet etc. At that stage I couldn't do much about the work situation, so figured I'd drink some vitamins (I never did that before, at least not on a regular basis). Since then I've been drinking berocca once a day, work calmed down, tapered down on training and right now I'm feeling great. What would you reckon is the role of vitamins/berocca here?

What got me wondering (excuse the detail) is that those fizzy orange tablets make my urine as shocking yellow as pine flavoured energade... Allways thought that dark urine was a bad thing, supposedly a sign that the kidneys are taking shots. Any comments on this please?

Please don't suggest 20 other types of vitamins that I should try, just want to know if it is normal if the stuff colours your urine, and whether its a bad thing or not.

I have no medical background, but I suspect that the yellowing of the urine is a pretty normal reaction and can be attributed to the increased intake of Vitamin C (whick I think is fairly concentrated in the berocca product).

I don't think it's anything to be concerned about as long as you stick to the recommended daily allowance.

the body can only absort x amount of vitamins and minerals the rest is excreted hence the yellow urine, ive had it that it looks like you holding a light sabre in your hand lol, i believe that you have to replace what you loose through exccesive exercise so i use Aminostim specifically developed for endurance athletes, there are so many different products on the market i guess its like energy products ...... find one that works for you and stick to it

Thanks! Just read on the box, and it says that berocca has roughly 10X the RDA for all 3 types of vit-B? Why would it have 10 times more than you need, hence the need to pss out huge amounts of it...

What's the sense in this?

There are two main types of vitamins nl. water soluble and fat soluble. Water soluble vitamins can not be stored by the body so if your body can not use all of it it is simply excreted, hence the colour of ur urine. These are mainly your B vitamins and vitamin C, and so other vitamins that will make the list long. However fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A,D,e and K can not be excreted like the water soluble vitamins but should not pose a danger if used in a moderate amount. I work at a pharmacy and see a lot of people overdosing everyday, overdosing on vitamins is the least of your worries.

If you are a normal healthy person, you do not need to take any vitamins. If you are already getting everything in your diet then all you are doing is giving yourself expensive pee. (hence the darker colour)

Drink enough water if you take any vitamins or berocca. Dilutes the stuff, and your body takes a bit longer to process it all - possibly absorbing more of the good stuff

possibly need to increase your water intake?? RDA is pathetic for anyone who does exercise more then moderate exercise because you need for more then the average person
