NOOB question wrt components.

Ok, so i have a shimano XT Rear De-rail and so does me Finace'. but the two comonents are totally different?? the branding badge is the same, but the rest is like chalk and cheese....

surely if you buy product "X" labeled "Y" they should be the same?? or in this case is it like i have an XT- Fly and and "liefie" has XT-flew????

There are quite a few different models still going around, as well as the shadow type vs the rapid rise.

Check on the derraileur itself will be a model number, should be M7XX, then you can check online what the real-world difference between the two is.

sounds like you have different generations of XT.

 

A bit like both having 3-series BMW's... They should be the same, but if you have the old shape and the fiance the new, they will be very different.

 

Have a Google about XT 770 and XT 760

 

And then there are a couple of different flavours in each also...

Thanks guys... i will check it out.... but im sure you guys are spot on as the bikes are about 3years apart...! will check numbers!
