Help! Raleigh Nomad Seventy 2011 a good bike for a beginner?

Is the Raleigh Nomad Seventy a good bike? I want to buy a entry level MTB but is no expert on bikes. Any disadvantages of the bike? Is R2800 a good price for a almost brand new one?

Prehaps something second hand for slightly more? If you are starting out you do not want something that will put you off cycling. My partner bought an Explorer a few years back, piece of rubbish! I have replaced front and rear derailer and the fork, now its not too bad but my point is maybe spend a bit more and get something with decent parts.
