I have just done a tubeless conversion on my MTB and was wondering why Presta valves ? As they are loose anyway , why not fit Schrader valves. Cars and motorcycles use them effectively. What's the difference?

Size of the hole in the rim.............Schrader valve with the larger hole weakens the rim more than a smaller hole would.

But then again the lower spec rims have a larger hole for the Schrader and a plastic grommet inserted for the Presta, so the rim is already weakend no matter what valve you are using.
