Is there any difference on the stress placed on the hub or spokes on Disc vs Caliper brakes wheel.

Can I replace the hub on a MTB wheel with a hub that can fit a disc brake without problems ?

I assume the force/stress points on a caliper wheel is spread more equally - i.e. 1) at the bottom road contact point, 2) in the middle at the hub/axle and 3) at the top at the brake caliper point.

Will the change in brake location - i.e. moving the brake friction point to the disc which is close to the hub/axle (bringing the two pressure/loaded point together) increase the stress on the rim and spokes - and thereby make the original rim and spokes unsuitable for a disc brake conversion ?
