  1. RRP $ 300 CEREVELLUM HINDSIGHT 35 CYCLING COMPUTER W/REARVIEW VIDEO The recently ended Eurobike show, and the ongoing Interbike show in Las Vegas, have given manufacturers, large and small, an opportunity to introduce new products to market. One that caught our attention is a bike computer made by Cerevellum that is a computer and a whole lot more. On the surface, it is a seven function computer, offering what would be considered basic computer functions of speed, average speed, maximum speed, distance, total miles, time, and ride time. However, this computer has a neat trick up its sleeve… We all know the hazard of vehicle traffic coming up behind us on the road. It is nice to be able to see what is going on behind you. Unfortunately, most bike mirrors are a compromise at best. Helmet or glasses mounted mirrors are small, and for many of us, too close to our faces to be use effectively. Handlebar mirrors stick out, often with imperfect reflective surfaces, and they vibrate from road vibration, making rear viewing difficult, and can giggle or be easily bumped out of position. Of course, you can always swivel around to look behind you, but that presents its own set of problems and potential dangers. Cerevellum has come up with an ingenious solution – a compact rear mounted digital video camera. The Cerevellum Hindsight 35 system includes a camera/rear LED light, mounted to your seatpost. This camera transmits a video feed to the computer head’s 3.5 inch LCD screen, allowing the rider to see to the rear with a simple glance at the screen. The computer stores 10 minutes of video. The computer is ANT+ compatible. Apps can be purchased and downloaded from Cerevellum to provide cadence, heart rate, and power data from ANT+ transmitters, such as Garmin sensors, PowerTap rear hubs, and SRM or Quark cranksets, among other products. This system can therefore provide all of the information that a cyclist may want, while offering a safe, clear, stored image of what is going on behind the rider. Want to see that racer (or eighteen wheeler…) starting to accelerate behind you before he or she blows by? Want see who may be chasing you down after a break? No need to imitate Andy Schleck by spending more time looking over your shoulder than looking forward – simply look at your computer. The picture will be right there, along with your speed, heart rate and power data output. Want the license number of that car that came a bit too close? The license number will appear in the stored video clip http://www.cerevellum.com/#/home
  2. Thanks andydude ... will let the family know, they are coming down on 1 March from garies (they don't mind sharing a bed) You sure you can make pasta for 7 ? (maybe grandma will come as well - as spectator - her pasta must be very soft ....no teeth sorry to say) Also, would you mind picking them up at bellville station. shot thanks boet
  3. Cable stretch ..jockey.... Dude, you could have done the adjustment yourself in the time it took to load your bike - never mind travel time to go to CL (Hard to believe how shops will sell to, or let some morons ride bicycles.) CL should have charged you R200 bucks just for stupidity.
  4. I totally disagree with these comments ! At the old shop and the new, I never received anything but the best service and courtesy. Somehow they always charged me much less than I expect and gave extra bits and pieces free. The old shop had anything and everything you ever needed - always with the latest products and parts. Pity that John and Willy split-up; they were a good combination. The new shop does not have a great location (in my view) but has the expertise and skills any cyclist may require. (Unfortunately JOC is too far to travel to.) I hope this 'rumour' is just a rumour ? ... Willie is one of (if not the best) cyclist this country has seen, I hope you guys are just talking Cr&p about a close down. No, I don't know Willie personally .... and doubt he knows my name, but I have always been very pleased with his shop.
  5. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN I strongly object to the perverts staring at me while I w#nking on the beach... this is a free country ! ! Shame on you ... and those poor dogs ...place a paper bag over their heads or go walk elsewhere you pathetic peeping tom. Roadie
  6. Yahooo ! Looks like logic and sense will eventually prevail !!
  7. What does it weigh ? and can we see a pic of it on your couch ? Its difficult to give good advice if more info and photographic perspective is lacking.
  8. Mate, I say F^ck the Doc ....He probably only has 5 to 7 years medical study and then some practical experience. If you want your experiance or experience - Dringle, Bingle, Zongle, Dongle, BigH SmallZ, MediumD .... and the rest of us have googled, oogled and hubbed all subjects... ....you will always get the best medical advice on the Hub. (Note; we are 'contracted out' but we are available 24/7 and do not charge double time after hours) So, we say ; anything in moderation - so if a little coxflam is good;.then a lot of coxflam will be even better.
  9. Fantastic of you to send me one - thanks Sweaty Bastard. Found it my post box yesterday - and then did a 60km mtb ride to try it out. My helmet fits fairly low on my forehead so it was bit uncomfortable there - and at the back where it goes under the helmet back-strap. Also found it awkward with my riding glasses. Have not made up my mind yet on how well it works for me BUT - IT CERTAINLY HELPED WITH THE SWEAT ! Very good product - just need to wear it a couple more times to get comfy with it - but so far my sweat free eyes were very grateful ! Thanks again - will definitely recommend it to any other sweaty bastards like us !
  10. Fantastic route on the 70km (although I see about 130 riders did not finish ?) Maybe the 70 was a bit too hectic for them - and some technical bits too, will be back next year - great event !! I assume the Sunday distances did some of the single track we did so they should have had fun too. BUT why did I get a medal with the Karate Kid on ?
  11. Northern suburbs ! First thing to do is look at the Tygerberg MTB website - (and join !) http://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/index.html
