ATKV Drakensville

Hi, going to drakensville resort in the KZN drakensberg, about 30km outside Bergville. Has anyone been there with a bike and are there places/tracks/trails etc for us to ride?

I went there 3 years ago. I rented a 'mountainbike' at the resort to go on there mountainbike trail. Not great. A baboon with a walkingstick will battle to walk on the so-called trail

 

There might be other trails in the area but seen that I had my roadbike with me, I did not enquire about other trails.

I used to go there twice a year for work until 3 years back.

Never took a bike - running shoes take up a wee bit less space, so cannot comment on the trails, BUT even if there is not a single bike trail, it is still worth taking your bike - you will find somewhere to ride.

Absolutely awesome area to ride, great scenery. Do not miss out on the opportunity to take your bike.

Hi Kevinc,

There is some realy good road riding in that area. If based in Drakensville there are some nice hills to ride, out and back.

As far as MTB goes Little Switzerland and Alpine Heath both have tracks to ride and they are not far from where you will be staying.By riding to either of the resorts you will get a good ride in.
