  1. Except for the confusion at the start it was a good race. Will do it again
  2. Respect. Yes I'm thankful for my health condition at 58. I'm clearly not in your league (4 hours from L group to finish) but I really felt sorry for the people starting later in that heat. Thanks 'youngster' for helping some people to finish the race
  3. I'm not going to comment whether the right call was made or not or what the reason for the call was. To me the whole CTCT trip was a disappointment due to protest actions. It started for us Vaalies on Friday morning when the roads were blocked off and many people missed their flights due to protests. Then on Sunday morning we got a sms informing us about the shortened rout due to protest action. In my opinion these protesters have established a new way of attracting attention and this will happen more on major events unless some sort of action is taken to prevent this. Will I again spend all this money to do this race, at the moment not. Mayby in a few months time I might feel different but not now.

    94.7 vs Argus

Take it from a social rider. 974 is tougher with the rolling hills. No time to recover and with Steyn City at the end, eish. Take away Chappies and Suikerbossie and the CTCT is a walk in the park. Better not show my face in CT next weekend. But serious, I find 947 tougher except for 2009 the storm Argus race.
  5. Started in HL group. Going up the first incline out of the stadium, I got the feeling it was going to be a long day in the saddle. The body just did not want to respond. I managed to stay with a bunch up to the left turn towards Suikerbos. Everybody at the front indicated that we were about to turn left. As we started turning an asshole came speeding past my left. He realized he was to quick to turn and grab his brakes. His back wheel locked up and swayed and down he went. His forward momentum fortunately took him past me and I managed to avoid him by millimeters. Bloody tjop got a mouth full from the rest of the group. Dont know if he took down other riders with him as did not look back as I was in shock. Another rider in the group had to show off his downhill skills. Every now and then he got into this aerodynamic position with his bum in the air. We were not even going downhill. Was quite funny but I suppose one can expect it in our lower groups.
  6. I did the race from FL (social riders) Unlike the guys racing for places, we had a very pleasant ride. The front of the FL bunch raced off and we formed a bunch (plus minus 10 - 15 riders) that stayed together to the finish line. No near misses or incidents. The poor girl standing in the pothole was really stupid. Riding at the front of the bunch or within the first 5 wheels helped me to negotiate the potholes. Finished in 3 hours. Not to bad for an old toppie
  7. My son is a bio and do wellness days arranged by Discovery. His practice is in Boksburg. They do a full assessment as required by Discovery. Contact Dewald on 078 481 8835 for more detail.
  8. Have taken my bikes there for 15 years and never had issues. Clint and his personnel are always friendly and helpful.
  9. It means plenty cycled without a chip. I was one without a chip. forgot to put the damn thing on. Do not have a garmin to send file to racetec. my loss as my time was not to bad for a social rider.
  10. #FEESMUSTFALL - PARKS AND POOLS FOR FREE
  11. Camelback. Bottle gets dirty on a MTB ride. MTB baggies. You must look like a MTB rider.
  12. Eish, that wind!!!. Had a fairly good ride to my standards. Race was well organised but for one incident where 3 of us were sent in the wrong direction. Had to turn left, but there was a horse shoe left and a 90 deg left at this intersection. The 'marshal' had his flag indicating towards the horse shoe left and off we went. 1km down this road it was rather quite. We decided to go back to the intersection to find out we were flagged in the wrong direction. The 'marshal' was a youngster. There were several other adult marshals standing around. Was not happy chappy. Very irresponsible of the adults to have a kid manning such a difficult intersection. Other than that, had a 'pleasant' ride
  13. You guys must enjoy the race on Sunday. Not doing it this year because I took the wife to Mauritius for our 30th wedding anniversary and now I am broke. It feels strange to not get ready to be off to Cape Town after 12 years of doing the race. May the wind be behind you all the time.
  14. I have used them for I think 5 or 6 years in a row and never had problems. Always drop of on the Saturday and in and out in 10 mins tops. Even at collection time and drop off in CT, service was fine for me. Surely two more rides over the weekend will not make you fitter. You only risk an injury, crash, ....... Us fun riders rest the weekend before a Biiiig race.
