Such a pity .........................

After a good few hours on the Mtb Saturday I decided that a good few hours on the road would be just the perfect muti yesterday. Climbed on the Road Bike and headed for the old Kimberley road outside Bloem. This is a very popular road for roadies as it has a nice wide shoulder and is straight, so you see cars and cars see you.

And as per last year and the year before and forever it looked like a frikken fun ride there. Just riders where you look. It is such a pity that half were most likely new year resolutions, they will disapear fast. The others are practicing for the Argus and will be gone post Argus. It is difficult for me to understand how a person can cycle , enjoy it, most likely reap a few health benifits and then just leave it...... just to start the whole process next January again. Ill leave my wife before I leave cycling and that is the honest truth.

I agree with Mads, cyclists and Argus riders. I've only missed a few Argus cycle tours in my time and never really did any other major rides, until I moved to Pretoria in 2002. It is so much more fun to remain a cyclist and do some of the out of the way rides as well. We did the Modimolle Druiwefees 105 km this weekend and it was really a great ride.

Wet in places this year and the new category seeding system worked well for our age group in that the ladies never caught us, despite some promises.
