I basically train twice a day and have one rest day per week.

 

A hard day's training is generally followed by an easier day

Always 2 a day, except on the days I do my long run or cycle.

Jip, after a hard day I try to take it easy the following day. A rest day is 24hs (once a week). This means that if my last training session ended at 2pm, I start training again the following day after 2pm otherwise some rest days turn into 36hs and then they become to long. I also try to swim on rest days, still get the training but my legs get to rest.
