I have used Cycle Lab's price matching policy twice during last year when I bought my Merida Scultura and my Merida 96 Team frame and saved a whopping R8000 in total. I supplied them with written quotes (no hassle and pulling out fine print), and not only did they beat the prices, they included other stuff such as a maintance plan, free bike build and some other odds and ends. Two awesome deals in one year. So when I pop into the Lab and sometimes have to pay R10 more for an item, I don't mind at all, cause these guys have save me a lot of moola, and offer a great service.

But he got those cool things extra also....

I went to Game once "cause they state if it's cheaper somewhere else it is free" or it used to be....anyway so showed them the 40" LED FULL HD TV I can get cheaper somewhere else....but for some reason the model number didnt match but it looks EXACTLY the same.....even came out the same time....so no, i didnt get a 40" FULL HD LED TV

Wasn't there a recent case with Game where the ASA or competition's board or something said that the "we will match it" claim must be clarified in the advertising? As I recall, a woman had found the item cheaper on the internet, and Game refused to match the price. Unless the offer specifically states, "Valid only in South Africa", or "Excludes internet offers" etc, I think that the retailer is now required to match any offer, wherever it has been found.

Dont see a problem, shop will have RRP as listed in store on the item, another shop advertises via print media they are having a sale on the same item. The RRP shop will match or beat it.

I also see no problem with only print media ads, its easier to verify and less chance of manipulating.

There is the problem. They will not match/better the price on special offers or promotions either.

Thats not how i read what you inserted, they wont match or beat special special offers/promotions if your source is not print e.g Web, sms, etc.

They will match or beat special offers/promotions if its in a newspaper, flyer, cycle mag etc.

AT the end of the day CRC and CWC is still half the price of all the LBS. So i know where i liek to shop and the price is GREAT

Not always, i've got items cheaper at Solomons and Westdene (both local which helps if i have issues) than CWC advertised it, and i did not have to provide proof that i could, they took my word.

Edit to add

Both shops fitted the item (Dura Ace cassette in one instance and Ultegera crank and BB in another) for nothing, something i would have had to do myself if i bought from CWC.
