An alternative is to get clubs to put the logo on their kit, and for each set of kit sold to a club member the club charges a R5 levy and passes it on to the initiative.

HR, also an excellent idea.

The problem with stickers is that people don't want to 'stick' them on their R300 000 car so in essence it can work but the people won't use them.

I like the 'flyer' idea and as you work in the media field, can I send you my 'short story' and from that you can extract the relevant & pertinent  info for a flyer?

Yep, any hubbers in the printing or litho printing game?

Just an idea!

What if we sell printed T-shirts. A white good quality T-shirt with the W309 on it and a great safety slogan. This will create exposure at races when guys put on the shirts after their ride. We could sell them for R50 which is not a bad price. What do you guys think?

I think the icon should be used in a similar vein as the Livestrong band - a way for people to raise awareness of the cycle safety situation.  It should appear on T-Shirts etc.

Is there any coordination between yourself and "Think Bike"?  They are now producing stickers with motorbikes and bicycles on them.

Bruce, I have aligned my efforts with TB although not in a structured format. I have punted their sticker idea although they sell 'packages' this does not seem to appeal to cyclists.  I thought of offering something similar with Hi Visibilty training kit and or safety vest.

Any other advice or ideas?
