Polar AND Garmin

Not sure if this is a technical question....maybe I am missing something or is it becomming the new "hip"???

but I have seen that some guys have more than one device on their bikes....

For Excample...this guy has a a polar on his handlebar, the polar GPS(bulky thing) on the front of the HT, a Garmin on his handlebar stem.....and then both Garmin and Polar cadence sensors......

What is the use if you want to make your bike light but add all this on......or I am the one who has missed the plot?

Also saw a guy with a Garmin705 and a Polar HRM watch on his bike at Fast One, with the CAD/Speed sensor for the Garmin and the speed sensor for the Polar ....

Maybe he's just 'cross referencing' them?

The guy I saw has been riding like that for months.......

I ride with both.

a 705 because i can map my rides and download other routes done from garminconnect.

my RS800 because I can use it for Spinning as well as MTB'ing.

I don't cadence sensors for either because that's dumb on a mountain bike!

also Polar has the benefits with Discovery.

So , for me, it's not about being hip, or trying to look cool or be flash... it's because i can...... because i didn't pay for my 705

got it mahala :D

it's handy having both and only because i use it at spinning, i'd have to choose the polar over the 705, otherwise it would be a very hard choice for me now that I'm spoiled with both.
