upside-down means that you lie the bike with the bike seat on the boot floor and the tyre forks up in the air?

 

Yip! Just be careful not to knock the roof of the car with the forks, and the boot rubber with the chain ring and your car will be fine!

 

I have to Tetris the bike in sideways past the smaller seat (that's still up) and then turn it on it's head once it's past. Then I just tie it down with the rope so it doesn't fall over. Just be careful that you don't take off the paint with the rope when the bike's muddy - I've done that before as well.
