  1. I have learnt that you need a bullet proof tyre setup. I have Conti Gatorskins with tyre liners and then I have put stans into my tubes. No problems so far.....
  2. Just started commuting from Tableview to Maitland on my fixie. I am loving every moment of it and arrive at work completely amped for the day. I am also saving myself about R2K a month, as well as, reducing my carbon footprint so it's all good. I was in Europe recently and was once again blown away by how many people commute. Cape Town has really great commuting infrastructure so now it's just up to us to change our mindsets.....
  3. I have been fortunate to have done a few of the Sani2C race events and they are a real 'must' to do at least once. I feel that Glen and his team have over extended themselves in having 3 rides (plus Jhb to Sea)and I have seen a steady decline in the organization in the Race event. I think by the time the Race comes around, the organisers are just too spent to offer the kind of support that we have come to expect
  4. I for one, am very stoked that Tygerberg Club will look at opening up to trail running. I am an avid mountainbiker but also a keen trail runner. In my humble opinion, these trails have been very under utilised for the amount of effort that has gone into the building of them. Tokai has had both mtb and trail running for decades and I dont think it has been a bad thing.
  5. As an 'arm chair yellow jersey holder' I feel that this is the most boring tour that I have watched in years. It was awesome to watch previous champs making breaks in the mountains in order to keep/take their leads. Wiggins just sits behind his team and shows absolutely no tour goedspa. I would love to see Froome make a break in todays stage and make up the 2mins just to see some expression from Wiggo.
  6. I know that its not possible on most bikes but I rate a Lefty higher that any other shock that I have ridden (and I have ridden most of them). I was sceptical before riding one but I am now sold. Good luck with your decision.
  7. I also rode the L2L over the weekend (for my sins) and have to say that Hermanus Cycles was a real asett on the road. R100 is excessive for washing a bike but I watched the amount of care that was put into every wash and feel that it could be justified. My view is if you don't wanna pay the bucks then take your own bucket along.
  8. Hi there, I would really love to change the colour of my carbon mtb. Is the finished product as hardy as the original spray work (will I get chips from stones etc). Please can you let me know Thanks
  9. Hi, I am in the process of putting together a fairly large order for Chain Reaction. Have any of you had any bad experiences when ordering from CR?
  10. Thanks IdeJongh for the warm welcome and advise. Yup, I should have started with a classified or 2 before jumping in with the 'big dogs'. Second thoughts - Prowler does sound pretty creepy in this context.
  11. Hey DG, Oh my word! would be about right. Seems like you are definately the 'lady of the moment'. How does it feel?
  12. I am new to this site but I see that there is plenty of actuin going on. Sorry I missed the photies!
