  1. Pain is is on the right leg: right between the glutes and harmstring on the left hand inside side of the right leg. Just where the leg stops and the butt starts. I havn't yet figured out yet why I have it, and I presume its down to the seat, as it has almost no cushion on it and I m pretty heavy already. I ve been resting it since Sunday's cobra race, and I can still feel it, but it has gotten a lot better. Been doing no cycling or running for that matter, just stretching and icing it in the evening.
  2. Have had a bike fitting, so I think its the seat.
  3. Cycle Lab in Westlake is good. But as I live in Seapoint my preferred option is John O'Connor Bike Shop in Mouille Point. Great service and highly recommended
  4. Where are you based?
  5. Looking for some advice on seats for my bike. I currently use a Sella Italia SL seat. But I seem to have picked up a strain that is between my right harmstring and my glutes. It seems the seat makes it worse and I had to shift my weight to ensure less pain throughout the Cobra on Sunday. Has anybody else experienced this kind of pain from a seat? And can anybody recommend a lightweight seat, similiar to Sella Itala Sl, but maybe one that distributes the weight better?
  6. After re-tightening the skewers and I mean they are tight now, and cleaning the cleats and pedals and then putting talcum powder on them; results are in. After taking it for a spin up and down the road, trying to put all my weight into the pedals and accelerating, it seems creaking noise is gone. Of course as retarded I am, I did all suggestions at once, without testing in between to see if it was the skewers or the pedals with the talcum powder. But this will be seen properly when taking it for another morning ride tomorrow morning! If
  7. gone try pedal/cleat thing and try using talcum powder, and also tighten up the skewers. And gone take it for a spin a minute.
  8. After having an engineer/maintenance guy have a look at the bike, he said it was the pedals fault for the creaking noise. So I got a new pair of pedals (Must admit I wanted some cool new ones anyhow), but on my ride this afternoon (50km) the creaking noise was back. It seems that when I do a smooth pedal stroke, without putting proper power through the pedals, no creaking noise appears. Only when I put proper power through the pedals that the creaking noise comes, both standing and sitting and it seems on most chain-rings and also on the rear bracket now. The frame looks fine, I can't see any tears in the carbon or hairline fractures. I m close to throwing the bike of a balcony, and I don't live on a floor where the bike would survive the fall.
  9. Legendary. I almost crashed my cycle in Bristol (UK) once, as there was a massive Advertising Board on a roundabout of some Hot chick in pretty much no clothes! I mean what were they thinking......
  10. 2 Spacers!
  11. End Result was that although the bike rolled very smoothly throughout the 75km, on the small chainring on the front creaking noise would appear when I would put a lot of power and weight through the pedals/crank! But only when the chain was on the small chainring on the front and middle to smallest chainring on the back! But not when going up the hill at 18km/h on small chainring upfront and largest chainring on the back. Creaking was there when I was standing or sitting. Couldnt feel anything wrong with the bike, except of course the creaking. Any further suggesstions?
  12. After taking it apart as much as I could with limited tools, it seems that the creaking noise was from the saddle. Took it for a quick spin up and down the road, putting all my weight into the pedals whilst seating and standing on front big and small chainring and it seems the noise is gone. However I m slightly dubious about this, as often only after the 35km mark the creaking appears. So I guess tomorrow's Olympic Cycles/Pres Les "Journey 4 Sight 'n Service" Cycle Tour will have to do as my proper test ride. Feeling nervous as I ve done only one 50km cycle since 19th of December. I be in starting Group Z, looking for a slow way round! Thanks for all the advice and hopefully it be a race without distorting noise effects.
  13. Thanks for all the advice, will work my way through my bike over the weekend trying out all possible suggestions and hopefully it will cure this diseased creaking noise.
  14. I am at the end of my wits in regards to a creaking noise that my bike, a carbon Canyon Ultimate CF', seems to be giving out. Original thought was that it would be the bottom bracket, however this has now been rebuild probably about 4 times by a bikeshop! Subsequently the bottom bracket it can't be. The creaking noise comes when I m climbing and really pushing it on the small chainring on the front. The same noise comes also when I m going flat out on the big chainring. It always seems to happen when I put a lot of power through the pedals. The bikeshop has been more than amazing, trying everything possible what it could be, including tightening up the chainrings, lubricating every possible part of the bike. And i keep going back saying that the creaking noise is still there, and I feel rather idiotic that I have done so up to ten times. The bike seems still to ride smoothly and the bottom bracket feels just fine. Any suggestions would be fantastic, as I m out of ideas and I don't like feeling idiotic constantly having to bother my local bikeshop. 15. Thanks for the advice for the training. Much appreciated and had a good effect. Spend the past month, doing a few short rides and two long ones. Result was 3hrs and 3 minutes, not to bad for a month training and starting in group R. Could have been a bit quicker, but a dropped chain and spending to much time in the front, resulted in the last 15km being slower then intended. But thanks again for the tips and I will try to keep it up for the Argus.
  16. Nice Pics. There were afew photographers along the way, including at the finish line and where you got your medals. Does anybody know where one would get those pics? Such as web-adress? Thanks in advance.....
  17. Hi everybody, am relative new to road cycling (started a year ago) and am in need of some training tips to reach my goals. Had a knee injury in April this year and started cycling again about a month ago. Knee feels fine and I jog/run without a problem. I have signed up for the Cape Argus Tour and in a moment of madness have also signed up for Die Burger Tour end of the month (Yes I know, fitness wise I think i will struggle) What would be a good training plan, I ve been thinking of cycling twice a week in the mornings to Chapmans Peak and back from Seapoint (About 50km) before work and then do a long ride on Saturdays and a small one on Sundays. Is this a good idea? Or what distances should I go for and how often should i get out on the bike? I have been up Chapmans peak on Sunday, but was a relative slow climb, been easily overtaken by others. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi everybody, I have just moved to Seapoint (Cape Town) for the next 6 months and have signed up for my first ever Cape Argus Tour. So I m thinking that training is in order to even be able to finish it or to even get over the first hill. Havn't cycled for a long time due to car door colision with my bike, so fitness levels are pretty bad (understatement) whilst having pilled on a few extra kilos. Does anybody do morning rides before work during the week or weekend rides around Seapoint, where I could join in and be ridiculed for my distinct lack of fitness. Am a relative beginner of cycling and previous experience of cycling is cycling around London (UK), thereby havn't really experienced any hills/mountains, just rain and cold weatherfronts. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Alex
