  1. So kremetart cancelled now...no title sponsor. Seems to be a trend this year.....first argus then letape and now kremetart..
  2. Three cheers to everyone involved in organizing the Kremetart - still one of the few very good races around with great atmosphere and good organisation - well worth the trip getting up there. A pity to see a drop in numbers attending. Was hesitant with the new start and finish area - but actually a great venue (just the short hill towards the finish line now makes it feel like an Mt Everest with tired legs after 175km).Was a bit miffed that one needed a licence now to race in the various age categories for this race - but it still worked out well in the 'Comrades' group - there was a good variety of talent so there was a variety of very fast, fast and kind of fast groups to attach one self to at each stage.Awesome weather at the start - finally no arm or leg warmers needed (pity about Sunday's rain, but hope the MTB still had a good ride)Was sad to see no Jungle Oats energy bars on offer this year after each stage and that on Stage 1 the truck with the bottled water only came as the 2nd Stage was starting and on Stage 2 lunch stop, i just manged to grab the last bottled water on offer (so not sure why water was under catered for this year), but thankfully the stop at Stage 3 had plentyBut otherwise was well fed on each stage, the beef soup is to die for, the pancakes makes the last 1km climb on stage 3 well worth it and the potjiekos was awesome - thanks to all the chefs. Thanks to all the locals lining up the finish area making us all feel like heroes at the end - the cheers, support and smiles... but also thanks to all the crew and paramedics and road rangers....Really enjoyed the comrade with all the cyclist.. even driving back home yesterday with a stop at the petrol stations, there was still smiles and chatting between cyclist ... a feeling we have conquered and survived!!
  3. trying to enter this race but category selection does not have Ladies or even Open for me to choose from, it only has EliteSub VetVetsMastersGrand MastersTandem anyone having the same problem??
  4. Thanks. I am looking for rims for my single speed (red or black, deep section 40mm or more and flip flop) Let me know
  5. Hi All I am looking at importing a set of rims from Germany. what kind of fees can I expect to pay once it lands in South Africa so I can determine whether its worthwhile purchasing (not that I have choice as SA does not stock what I am looking for). Just don't want to end up with a shock and end up paying extra thousand etc. for import duty, SARS, etc
  6. That's a disappointment http://www.bicycling.co.za/race-news/tour-de-france/tour-features/no-2014-tour-de-france-for-impey/
  7. R20 per car and R10 per adult to ride the reserve Safe enough to ride alone. The full loop is just under 60km. Make sure you are fit enough for this ride as its just one loop so you can't cut it short (the hills can be tough). Watch your descents as you never know when animals can run across the road. Most importantly don't litter and if the road is a one way, stick to it don't go down/up any of the one way roads (as many a times the reserve has wanted to close its doors to cyclist for not obeying the rules) There are 2 entrance. The popular entrance is just off the R550. Easiest route From Johannesburg (if you not familiar with the south is), take the N3 highway towards Heidelberg. Take the R550/Alberton Road off-ramp and turn right, across the ( highway. Turn left to the reserve Enjoy it

    Argus 2014

My nephew and his buddy are doing the Argus on a single speed bike (they never done the race before) - hahah if you thought MTB is difficult - think of guys on single speed bikes
  9. Thanks to the awesome guy on the MTB that gave me one of his water bottles just after the N14 highwway (lost mine in Hyde Park) . You are a LIFE SAVER (that just got me the energy to get my sub 3). Oh yea, and my time is out by a few min as well (so don't know how racetec does the timing as I was very close to the front at the start)
  10. typical... my first audax ride and I chose the hardest!! well certainly it can only get easier... had a lot of fun though but would have been nicer if there was more people (finished in 7 1/2 hours, my butt is still not talking to me)
  11. dress warm... gonna be a cold night and a cooollld weekend brrrr (we can form a mass huddle)
  12. so the one on the audax schedule of 200km from Lido is no longer taking place on the 25 Aug? or is that still happening together with this one
  13. this sounds great, don't you have any in the south of jnb though
  14. Any of the ladies does the Leverage Corp MTB ladies race at Van Gaalens before? what is the 40km route like? never ridden at Van Gaalens before.
