Good luck to everyone....i will be glued to the TV on race day, with hopefully a run thrown in between. My wife has convinced me to do the Big C next year....will be our 1st. Never done a marathon on its own, except for the long run/walk after IM....3 times. Never liked the run but i think it is time to commit and train. Hopefully i see most of you on the start line in 2016
  3. They had coke at the finish. But heard the lady say that they are going to run out of coke.
  4. BL but will be starting DL with my wife...
  5. A back spasm that i picked up before IM has flared up. Have done no training since IM except for a few leisurely races. Did Emperors cycle race with my wife 2 weeks ago, only bike ride i have done. Done 2 runs, 21km slow mag and 15km Colgate races. Think the option for me is to give this a skip.....and try and get all the niggles sorted before the start of the next season. Pity, really looked forward to the race but i might just do more damage than good
  6. Ok, that is pretty flat. Just depends on the wind direction on the day.....but i am sure it cant be worse than PE Will go for a short run tomorrow....easy cycle with my wife at Emperors on Sunday and then start with some sort of training plan next week. Think i will be doing a lot of running the next 3 weeks
  7. Thanks for the reply. Does this mean we will do the hill twice like it is at Global? just entered.... No training since IM....time to get something in the legs before the 10th
  8. Does anyone know what the bike leg is like? Is it laps or is it an out and back route?
  9. Dont think there is a massage service as such. There is a medical tent though. They might assist with giving you a quick rub
  10. Want to try and show as little suffering as possible......trying to convince the wife it is time for her to do a Full IM
  11. No 1 was a pure sufferfest. Didnt run for 10 weeks due to ITB....i was a total newby to triathlon with only 1 70.3 and didnt really know how to pace the race. But i finished and loved the experience. No 2 was great up until 120km on the bike when the wheels came off. Stomach issues meant i cycled the last 60km in almost 3 hrs.....after the 1st 120km in under 4hrs. 1st 14km was hell on the run but last 28km went well....running 6min/km which was great. Missed my target time due to the middle portion of the race being a disaster. But finished strong and had a great time out! No 3 will be challenging. No real training to speak of....and not training for the last 3 weeks due to illness. It is going to be interesting....but i suppose I am good at suffering for 13hrs Not chasing a time.....just going to enjoy and hopefully finish with a few friends....if i can keep up with them on the run.
  12. Jip, things are real now. Dropped my bike off with the bike transport company today.....then you know it is close to the start. Getting excited but also nervous....especially because i am by far the unfittest I have been in my 3 attempts
  13. I might be in the same boat. will be doing my 3rd full this year. After 4 70.3 events my wife is thinking of doing Full. Will try and do it with her but might just support to look after our kids.
  14. Try and do open water swims at Germiston lake. And then swim at Glenvista or Meyersdal virgin active from time to time
  15. Anything will be better than 2012 Atleast I am feeling better, chest has cleared up. Hoping to do a bike and swim tomorrow. At this point in time I am just glad that I should be able to start
