  1. Great ride, great food. Have to do it at least once. Practice riding in sand though.
  2. What a wombat! I am one of those fat cyclists that in fact came last on day one and three of the adventure. I may not be a racing snake but I had the guts and determination to push through and the applause we got crossing the line in Scottburgh after six hours on the bike was a very emotional. Don't judge too quickly......
  3. Thats exactly what I decided to do, don't want to take this risk, shed this race is turning out to be expensive!
  4. Got out of bed on the wrong side? The one asked a simple question and did not need to be blasted.
  5. After reading some of the comments about tires, I am now worried. I have the standard racing ralphs evo folding tubeless ready that came with my Giant X0 29er. Am I gonna have problems?
  6. These look exactly the same as last years profiles.....I am a bit confused
  7. Brilliant, Gordon worked with me when he wrote this....seems like ages ago and now I am getting ready to start my first Sani. He convinced me to buy my first MTB and we started to train at Northern Farms. Never thought I would see this day, 41 years old and here I go........
  8. Not relevant to Van Gaalans but the last couple of times I have rode Breedts Nek, I have seen more than one cyclist bombing down the decent on the wrong side of the track.....
  9. Just taken delivery of my new 2012 Anthem X0 29er! Loved my 2011 Anthem X2 26er so keen to see the difference......watch this space.....
  10. I am a bit confused.......do we not get accommodation the night before the race? If not how far is the drive from JHB to the start?
  11. Oh poo.....I have entered the second one in March. Have I wasted my cash? What was the route like, technical?
  12. Do members of the PPA not get preferential start times? If so what group is it?
  13. Hi all I recently upgraded from a Specialised Rockhopper Hardtail to a Giant Anthem Duel Susser. I am struggling with the seat height. I tried to match the seat height to my old MTB but obviously when I sit on the bike it obviously sinks under my current overweight state (soon to be solved). Would I therefore need to make the seat higher to compensate for the sagging effect of the rear suspension???? Thanks
