  1. But how strong will JV be tomorrow after bleeding on today's stage...? UAE hurt them last week... It can be done again. And let's not rule out the possibility of a fall either... Spectators have thrown a spanner in the works recently too...
  2. Let's be honest, it did bite them harder than probably expected but I don't think the plan was to over-exert themselves today to get the yellow... I think they were possibly looking at minimal damage and then taking it to the mountains again. .
  3. Damn! That was unexpected... Do you possibly think it was possibly part of UAE's plan? UAE's riders look a little bit less stressed for the next day or two as opposed to JV... Possibility of a break away or attack without any answer from JV...?
  4. It's the same question as why do so many people like iPhones and all Apple's products... everyday, a new cakehole is born... Lmao!!!
  5. I was also contacted by denysbio17@gmail.com yesterday and then some other guy from Tanzania via Whatsapp... not sure if he is legit or not...
  6. Frans and Janine's service will be held at Northfield Methodist church in Benoni at 10am. We will have a mass ride from Benoni Northerns club. We will meet from 9am Friday morning. There is also a mass ride planned from the old Tour de Frans in Atlas rd on Saturday morning at the China Mall there. The ride is planned to leave at 5:30am. This will be in rememberance and it will be an awareness ride. We will have tv news there and written publication too. Thank you for everyone's support. I am certain Frans, Janine and all the other fallen cyclists that have passed on would appreciate all this support. Stay safe out there and keep alert. God Bless you all.

  8. I won't divulge on details but Frans and Jan were about 50m behind us after a slight incline. We had crossed over a green traffic light and I saw the taxi approach. It wasn't going fast enough to set off any alarm bells. When Frans and Jan crossed over it was still green for them. In mid way through the intersection it went amber for them according to the lady that was riding with us behind the tandem. She stopped for the traffic light and looked down. We heard Frans shout and then there was an impact. I still thought it was the taxi and another vehicle that collided in Frans' immediate area. In that split second, I turned around to see the cause and actions of that accident in motion. We then turned around immediately to get to them and render assistance. The rest I won't go into out of respect for the families involved. All I know is that the traffic light was red for the taxi. I don't know if he saw the leading 2 bikes (myself and a friend) cross over and then tried to "catch a gap" behind us or if he just accelerated and never saw Frans and Jan... but I do know that when I saw the taxi, he wasn't doing any speed near to what he hit Frans at to cause that kind of damage and destruction.
  9. I will do as soon as we have memorial details etc...
  10. I was with Frans and Jan this morning. What I saw, I don't ever want to see that again. Frans was like a second dad to me and Jan became a very good friend over the last few months. The two of them will be sorely missed. The beers will never be as tasty, biltong as good or the conversation as colourful now that Uncle has gone. RIP my dear friend. I will miss you dearly.
  11. Guaging by the colour of the stripes on the shirts and the sponsor, this group probably don't signal to turn or change lanes either...????????????
  12. This was our/my first Amashova. We rode down from Benoni on the Tuesday with the 717 team for Reach for a Dream. After not training as much as I would have liked to due to shift work etc, I took on the task of trying to keep up with the others on tour. First day saw me cramp after just over 100km due to heat. After a ride in the bus for about 25km, I got back on and completed the day's ride with 30km odd to go. Day 2 saw us ride from Tweeling to Harrismith. That was also done in close to 40 deg weather. Was a good 150km+... Day 3 was from Harrismith to Mooiriver. 70km into the ride and I picked up an achilles injury for some or other reason. I tried to hang on but packed it up at 103km. Day 4 was fueled by painkillers. The 86km to Pietermaritzburg was hot, humid and painful. Saturday was a rest day, masking the pain with more painkillers. Sunday started well. 3× Mybulins lasted the first 20km. Having started in BB, the rest of the ride was painful. The last 8km I buckled with my achilles and still finished in 3:39. In hindsight, sitting now in a moonboot with my achilles and a thrombosis may not have been my ideal outcome but I wasn't going to give up. I think the heat that we encountered on our way down conditioned us for the race. We had no option but to hydrate as much as possible and eat on our way down... I will be back next year, hopefully without any injuries. Keep it safe on the road guys, catch you all next year.
  13. I would personally keep the same black and white design and replace the gold with a red, yellow and blue fade...
  14. I would like to thank EvanB for assisting me with a seat post. Really appreciate it.
  15. I haven't been here in a few weeks. Some nice bike builds that have been completed... I need help. I am looking for the illustrious 25mm LOOK seat post for a 481 SL that I am building... I bought one from France about 2 months ago and our WONDERFUL postal service has yet to provide some sort of info or part... Does someone by chance have one that they would like to part with that won't cost the earth or else something like a 25mm DA seat post? TIA.
