  1. I think thats on the 16 inch, 1.2 kg. It climbs great and very balanced. It is definitely fast ,but I have not done a lot of races on it. Did the Tsitsikamma 70km on the weekend and it handled well, especially climbs and downhill. The technical stuff is where I lack the skill, so not sure what its like there. Here is a lightweight build on a 16 inch frame: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=34198
  2. You could also look at : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=48320 Azonic AZ 7 frame. I built up my MTB with this as frame. It is light, between 1380 and 1500 g I think. Matt black finish and seems to look a lot like the Mongoose frame, but welds seem neater. It is also cheaper than most at about R 3300 ,probably similar to Cotic etc.
  3. I am really interested in this topic, since I recently changed my second bike from a no-name brand Chinese carbon to a Cervelo S1 frame. I was disappointed at first, probably the extra weight and loss of comfort. Then however it seems to save your legs up for the second part of the ride which I thought quite interesting. The carbon would somehow go dead in the last part in a ride, where the S1 seems to make it easier to turn the last couple of slight uphills into the wind into enjoyable pain. It was as though the carbon strugglled to punch through the wind. I have a 38 mm carbon Yishun set of wheels on at the moment which I use all the time, they seem to be solid. I did try a set of Easton EA 90 SL's for a while , but am also disappointed in them. Have never had them on the S1 though. I am wondering if the 38 mm carbons are the best thing on the S1 though. Would like to know what everybody else thinks, I feel it is overrated , but like the way it looks and the way it makes you stronger if you use it as a training bike. Not sure if it will become my first choice bike though.
  4. I have a self-catering room , very basic. About 2 kms from the start and about 300 metres walk down Admiralty to the sea. So its on the route. Not very big, but has own braai area and outdoor section.PM me and I will send photos.
  5. DL 6h35. No hope ! , have no previous Herald time or any other seeding. Will have to wait for next year. Have done around three hours in other recent 100 km events. Anybody else in DL?
