  1. Agreed, I cycle Northern Farms track 3 twice, that equals to 64 odd km. We need the longer trails. Not as much fun to ride a 20km track 3 times. but that said, yes you need to cater for all levels of fitness and skills to be a destination of choice. I use Northern Farms to do long distance/ hrs training, and Teak for technical single track speed sessions.
  2. A potassium overdose will cause palpitations; stomach cramps; diarrhoea; muscle spasms; slow, weak pulse; irritability; anxiety; tiredness; heart failure. Although there is said to be no recommendation as to how much potassium to take in the diet, 2,000 – 3,000 mg a day is thought to be adequate. Also the Institute of Medicine 2004 guidelines gave a specified RDA of 4,000mg a day.<br><br><p>Potassium overdose, known as hyperkalemia, is dangerous. You can develop this through kidney problems, severe infection, or potassium sparing diuretics.</p><p>Those with kidney disease need to be extra careful not to take too much potassium because the kidneys control potassium excretion. A sick kidney can contribute to too much concentrated potassium in the blood stream, and could lead to fatal cardiac arrhythmia.</p><p>Too much intake of concentrated potassium chloride can short circuit muscles and nerves causing them to malfunction. This is why one of the symptoms of a potassium overdose are palpitations or irregular heart beat.</p><p>To illustrate the dangers of too much potassium, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the infamous Dr. Death, used concentrated potassium chloride to neutralise the electrical conduction of the heart and stop it beating in dying patients who he assisted in accomplishing euthanasia. He chose this method because it was effective and fast acting.</p><p>It is also used as the last of the lethal injections in the execution of criminals because it stops the heart in just a few minutes.</p><br>

  4. Check your bike setup definitely. Stretching is just as important as the actual exercise itself! NEVER EVER neglect stretching! I got bad ITB from running (very common among runners) forced myself to not run for a week, treating it with the usual voltaren. After week started running low intensity, still sore but ok. Then I increased my intensity and distance BIG MISTAKE. Hit me so bad 10km away from home, could not even walk. Long story short – ITB syndrome is because of rubbing against the bone on the side of the knee, if not looked after it causes scar tissue that thickens the ITB hence doubling your problem. Never try to run or ride through the pain/problem. Take it easy and do lots of stretching – most of the time it will come right. Ignore and continue training, it will get worse and you might need an operation. I did not want to go the operation route, (I screwed mine up bad) took 8months for a 100% recovery Stretching is now a part of my training. Rather train 10min less and fit in some stretching
  5. I have a tubeless conversion, NON UST tyres and rims on a hardtail. I weigh in at 78kg and found 1.9 bar back & 1.8 bar front works well for me on average for all terrain. Going lower on the pressure I had pressure loss (burping) on the back wheel when doing fast heavy rocky downhill (XC) as the back wheel takes quite a pounding. Maybe able to run lower pressure on soft tails or tubeless rims fitted with UST tyres?
  6. Hi 1. You might have thorns still stuck in the tyre damaging your tubes 2. Rim liners might have moved damaging your tubes 3. Your rims migh have impact damage on the inside of the rim damaging your tube OR It might be a combination of the 3 Go tubeless. I have done the Ghetto conversion, works like a bomb. No need for UST tires or rims, you can even use the 24' tubes to do the conversion assuming you run on 26' wheels. It cost me R250 and 1hr of work. 2 x presta tubes @ R40 ea, and 1 x Stans Tire sealant @ R170. Search for the ghetto tubeless conversion on you tube for some video guidance. Depending on your weight also, but I run 1.9 bar at the back and 1.8 bar front, i weigh in at 78kg. Works for me! Just my 2 cents worth, hope this helped.
