  1. I need to loose about 8-10kg. Can I still join in, need some motivation to keep me away from the toast and p-butter.
  2. Had one on that I ordered with the frame, lost 2 bottles, constantly worrying that I'll end up 40km away from home without a sip to drink. These simple plastic Rav-X cages are almost like super glue, no worries.
  3. Some pics posted of mine here. Need to get some color on the down tube, otherwise I don't think it's too cr@ppy so far. Not everyone can afford a R30 000 paint job. .
  4. Rebuilt my previous bike(token frame) with new 12k weave chinese carbon frame, seat and wheelset. Still working on some more decal designs for the frame.
  5. Hey sorry, should have posted already. The frame made it and I decided to build my components over the the new one. I've done about 1000km on it and it's going strong, no issues and i've slammed it over some pretty tough terrain. I'll post some photos later.
  6. It was scanned at the Bloemfontein hub yesterday, I'm sure it will be at my local PO today. Took 3 weeks to get here from Durban. I'll post an update when I get it.
  7. Not at local post office yet, was there again a little earlier this morning.
  8. Arrived in SA on Wednesday, will probably have it next week somewhere.
  9. Finally got my bike built after buying frame from goose. Initial frame is still somewhere on a ship, couldn't wait longer. Ordered a Truvativ carbon seat post which should be here by the weekend. Will post some clean pics then. This was day 1 after some heavy rain. Thanks to Pieter from Park Cyles in Bloem for building the bike for me.
  10. Hey Josh I e-mailed the guy and gave hime a list of what I wanted and he replied with $415 shipping included. Just before they shipped the stuff, I asked him if there's still time to add two bottle cages ($15 each) he gave both for $20. So there's obviously discount on ordering additional stuff. I ordered a 18" FLY-FR-001 which I also changed at the last minute to a 3k weave, simply because to me it looks a little better, didn't charge me extra. Think the 3k might be a little heavier than 12k. The parcel has been at see for 2 weeks now, so I hope it will be here within the next 2-3 weeks.
  11. At least Leonardo will have something to hang on to this time.
  12. It's on the ship, they posted it yesterday, let's see how long this one takes.
  13. I have to admit that it's a bit frustrating to think that I might have to wait 2 months + for the frame to arrive, especially when all the other parts are laying around waiting to be assembled. Then again, I looked at a GT carbon frame at my LBS the other day, price tag.... R13500. It is probably the best looking frame i've seen in my life and I'm sure performance would be on par with the looks, but my complete build right now is going to cost me that much, grease and oil included. Considering I just started riding again after an absence of about 5 years, I think this Chinese cheapo will be more than suffice, and to be honest, I can't really justify the cost of even the current build. But hey, who would say no to a brand new carbon mounty, even if it meens you have to stay patient for a while.
  14. Just ordered a mtb frame with headset, seatpost, clamp and barends from flyxii. Now the wait...... Let me go peddal the Fisher
  15. I e-mailed Yong' date=' will report back when he replies. [/quote'] Sorry for the late reply, been busy. Yong replied later that evening: 1150g
  16. How did you place your order? E-bay/direct and from who? Did you pay extra for DHL or other courier service, I think the std postage takes about 4-6 weeks? Sorry for the 110 Q&A . I'm not much of a weight weenie, but I think anything <10kg for a MTB is great. I'm hoping to build mine up the be in that same region. Thanks for the post. It inspired some more confidence in the frames.
  17. I e-mailed Yong, will report back when he replies.
  18. If you get it. I choose not to be too much of a pesimest and their rating on e-bay convinced me. If I have to wait a while, that's fine. In the meantime I'll trap my old Gary Fisher.
  19. After reading up on these as much as possible, I'm going to buy one of their MTB frames. (just need to recover a little after buying everything but the frame). This is their website: http://www.flyxii.com I e-mailed them and a guy by the name of Yong was very quick to respond on all my questions. For $415 I will get the following: - Frame FLY-FR001 - disc only, there is another one that accepts V brakes, but if you're going to use discs you'll have those 2 V brake brackets sticking out the back like little frog eyes. - Seatpost - Handlebar - Headset - Stem - Seat clamp - Shipping All carbon except the shipping. With tax that works out to around R3700 I'll post once I get stuff blackbutton2010-02-04 01:46:09
  20. Sounds like solid advise. I'm looking to get a full carbon frame and maintenance is also one of my concerns. Will keep these tips in mind.
  21. I recently joined and since bought a shock and set of brakes and all went smooth, secondhand, but all came as advertised. Also took a chance and placed a CRC order with some other guys and everyone was quick to respond. This is way better than BOB if anyone is looking for cycling equipment.
