Did 5:43 on my Giant Terrago - washed and lubed from last weekend's Argus MTB, was too lazy to take off the knobblies. Last year I did 5:30 with slicks. I think my slicks would've melted yesterday. Backup at Chappies was my favourite part of the race - "forced rest"! Hehe.
Daar is actually baie parkering op die foreshore, 'n blok of drie weg van die wegspring af. Na die tyd ry die busse vanaf Groenpunt terug na die Civic Centre (wegspring), so jy kan net op 'n bus spring. Ons het dit verlede jaar gedoen en dit werk baie goed!
I'm done with slicks - did two races on them and yesterday, on my way home, my back tyre burst in the back of the bakkie. Rubber torn, the works! Luckily it didn't happen an hour earlier! Decision made for me - back on the knobblies next year!
The water is really not that cold in the dam. Last year hardly anyone swam with a wetsuit, but yes, it was close to 40 outside. This year the start is muuuuuuch earlier!
